Founded in 2015 with the principal aim of providing exceptional battery powered performance for the Internet of Things, utilising the latest in low powered radio networks, AltoNovus provides leading-edge solutions that can last up to 10 years on conventional AA batteries. Ideal for locations devoid of mains power infrastructure and offering standby powers in the sub uA ranges, AltoNovus delivers solutions for the major low powered radio networks.
The AltoNovus management team has a blend of complementary skills and experience gained over 80 years.
MEET THE TEAM
Geoff Dean - Managing Director

Geoff has 20 years of experience at various levels of Central Government and UK crisis management. His career includes appointments as Head of Corporate Services (Finance, HR and Governance) for a national organisation of 15,000 personnel, as Senior Policy Adviser to the Minister of National Defence of Afghanistan, as Policy Adviser to British Army Commanders overseas and as Private Secretary to Labour and Conservative Ministers in the Commons and in the Lords. Geoff was educated at Leicester University and the Royal Military College of Science.
Steve Thickett - Technical Director
Steve has over 25 years of first-hand experience in engineering at a variety of levels, across small and large companies in the communications industries. He has extensive skills in system, hardware, firmware and software development in embedded systems and is highly adept at drawing these strands together in product development. His experience includes carrier ethernet, TDM over IP, ISDN, TDM, modems, serial protocols, SerDes. 20 years using C++ in RTOS's. Multiple processor architectures, FPGA families, device drivers etc. Steve holds a BSc Hons. in Applied Physics and Electronics from Durham University.
Alan Lappin - Business Development Director

Alan has led in many capacities over a 36 year public service career, in logistics, security, people and equipment, at home and overseas, often in demanding environments. For the last 4 years before joining AltoNovus, he led one of only six UK MOD accredited equipment trials, R&D, analysis and experimentation test houses. Alan has successfully managed the interface between the public and private sectors, steering multi-million pound programmes, delivering fit for purpose products and services to the customer. Alan is delighted to bring his expertise to AltoNovus. Alan was educated at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and holds a Developed Vetting security clearance.
